আন্দালিভ পার্থর আসনে সরে দাঁড়ালেন বিএনপির প্রার্থী

আন্দালিভ পার্থর আসনে 

ভোলা-১ (ভোলা সদর) আসনে জেলা বিএনপির আহ্বায়ক গোলাম নবী আলমগীর মনোনয়নপত্র প্রত্যাহার করেছেন। আজ সোমবার বিকেলে জেলা প্রশাসক ও রিটার্নিং কর্মকর্তার কাছে তিনি মনোনয়নপত্র প্রত্যাহারের আবেদন করেন। রিটার্নিং কর্মকর্তা তা গ্রহণ করেন।

ভোলার এ আসনটি সমঝোতার মাধ্যমে বাংলাদেশ জাতীয় পার্টির (বিজেপি) চেয়ারম্যান আন্দালিভ রহমান পার্থকে ছেড়ে দিয়েছে বিএনপি। তিনি নিজ দলীয় ‘গরুর গাড়ি’ প্রতীকে নির্বাচন করছেন।

এ আসনে বিএনপির দলীয় প্রার্থী হিসেবে গোলাম নবী আলমগীরকে প্রাথমিক মনোনয়ন দেওয়া হয়েছিল। পরে যুগপৎ আন্দোলনের শরিকদের আসন ছাড়ার সিদ্ধান্ত হলে এ আসনে বিএনপি আন্দালিভ রহমানের বিপরীতে কোনো প্রার্থী না রাখার ঘোষণা দেয়।

বিএনপির দায়িত্বশীল সূত্র জানিয়েছে, গোলাম নবীকে দলের শীর্ষ পর্যায় থেকে মনোনয়নপত্র প্রত্যাহার করে নেওয়ার আহ্বান জানানো হয়। দলের নির্দেশনা মেনে তিনি মনোনয়নপত্র প্রত্যাহার করেন।

জানা গেছে, গোলাম নবী তাঁর আইনজীবী আমিরুল ইসলামের মাধ্যমে আজ বিকেলে ভোলার জেলা প্রশাসক ও রিটার্নিং কর্মকর্তা মো. শামীম রহমানের কাছে মনোনয়নপত্র প্রত্যাহারের আবেদন জানান। ভোলা জেলার রিটার্নিং কর্মকর্তা ও জেলা প্রশাসক শামীম রহমান জানান, মনোনয়নপত্র প্রত্যাহারের শেষ তারিখ ২০ জানুয়ারি নির্ধারিত থাকলেও বিএনপি প্রার্থী আজ সোমবার তাঁর মনোনয়নপত্র প্রত্যাহার করেছেন।

বিজেপির চেয়ারম্যান আন্দালিভ রহমান ঢাকা-১৭ আসনে (গুলশান-বনানী, বারিধারা, ক্যান্টনমেন্ট) নির্বাচনের প্রস্তুতি নিয়ে কাজ শুরু করেছিলেন। বিএনপির জ্যেষ্ঠ নেতারা ঢাকার এ আসনটিতে বিএনপির চেয়ারম্যান তারেক রহমানকে (তখন ভারপ্রাপ্ত চেয়ারম্যান ছিলেন) নির্বাচন করার অনুরোধ জানান। বিষয়টি জানার পর তারেক রহমানকে সম্মান জানিয়ে আন্দালিভ রহমান নিজ এলাকা ভোলা-১ আসন থেকে নির্বাচন করার সিদ্ধান্ত নেন। বিএনপিও তাঁর বিপরীতে কোনো প্রার্থী না রাখার ঘোষণা দেয়।

বিএনপির প্রার্থীর মনোনয়ন প্রত্যাহারের খবরে বিজেপির নেতা-কর্মী ও সমর্থকদের মধ্যে ব্যাপক আনন্দ-উৎসাহের সৃষ্টি হয়েছে। তাঁরা নতুন উদ্দীপনায় মাঠে নামার প্রস্তুতি শুরু করেছেন। ধনিয়া ইউনিয়ন বিজেপির যুগ্ম সাধারণ সম্পাদক মো. এরশাদ আলী বলেন, ‘আন্দালিভ রহমান পার্থ জোটের প্রার্থী নিশ্চিত হওয়ায় আমরা সংগঠিতভাবে কাজ শুরু করেছি। আমাদের একটি শক্ত ভোটব্যাংক রয়েছে, এখন অন্য দলের সমর্থকদের সঙ্গে যোগাযোগ বাড়ানোই লক্ষ্য।’

গোলাম নবী আলমগীরের মনোনয়ন প্রত্যাহারের খবর ছড়িয়ে পড়ার পর আজ বিকেল থেকে জেলা বিএনপির কার্যালয় অনেকটাই স্থবির হয়ে পড়েছে। বিপরীতে নতুনবাজার এলাকায় অবস্থিত বিজেপির জেলা কার্যালয়ে ভিন্ন চিত্র। গত কয়েক দিন থেকেই সেখানে গ্রাম ও ইউনিয়ন পর্যায়ের নেতা-কর্মীদের উল্লেখযোগ্য উপস্থিতি দেখা গেছে।

জেলা বিজেপির সাধারণ সম্পাদক মোতাসিম বিল্লাহ জানান, পরিস্থিতি বিবেচনায় তারা বড় শোডাউনের পরিবর্তে সীমিত পরিসরে প্রচারণা চালাচ্ছেন এবং জোটের অংশীদারদের সঙ্গে সমন্বয় বজায় রেখেই এগোতে চান।

BNP Candidate Withdraws in Favor of Andaleeve Partho

In the Bhola-1 (Bhola Sadar) constituency, Golam Nabi Alamgir, convenor of the district BNP, has withdrawn his nomination papers. On Monday afternoon, he submitted an application to withdraw his nomination to the District Administrator and Returning Officer, who accepted it.

BNP has left this seat to Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) Chairman Andaleeve Rahman Partho through mutual understanding. He is contesting the election with his party’s symbol, the “bullock cart.”

Initially, Golam Nabi Alamgir had been given preliminary nomination as the BNP candidate for this constituency. Later, when a decision was made to leave certain seats for partners in the simultaneous movement, BNP announced that it would not field any candidate against Andaleeve Rahman in this seat.

Responsible sources within BNP said that Golam Nabi was asked by the party’s top leadership to withdraw his nomination papers. Following party instructions, he complied.

It is learned that Golam Nabi, through his lawyer Amirul Islam, submitted the application for withdrawal to Bhola District Administrator and Returning Officer Md. Shamim Rahman on Monday afternoon. Returning Officer and District Administrator Shamim Rahman said that although January 20 was set as the final date for withdrawal of nominations, the BNP candidate withdrew his nomination on Monday.

BJP Chairman Andaleeve Rahman had earlier started preparations to contest the election from the Dhaka-17 constituency (Gulshan–Banani, Baridhara, Cantonment). Senior BNP leaders requested BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman (then acting chairman) to contest from that Dhaka seat. Upon learning this, Andaleeve Rahman, out of respect for Tarique Rahman, decided to contest from his home constituency, Bhola-1. BNP also announced that it would not field any candidate against him.

Following the news of the BNP candidate’s withdrawal, there has been widespread joy and enthusiasm among BJP leaders, activists, and supporters. They have begun preparing to take to the field with renewed energy. Md. Ershad Ali, joint general secretary of the Dhonia Union BJP, said, “With Andaleeve Rahman Partho confirmed as the alliance candidate, we have started working in an organized way. We have a strong vote bank; now our goal is to increase communication with supporters of other parties.”

After the news of Golam Nabi Alamgir’s withdrawal spread, the district BNP office has remained largely inactive since Monday afternoon. In contrast, a different scene has been observed at the BJP district office located in the New Market area. For the past few days, there has been a noticeable presence of leaders and activists from village and union levels.

District BJP General Secretary Motasim Billah said that, considering the situation, they are conducting limited-scale campaigning instead of large showdowns and are moving forward while maintaining coordination with alliance partners.
